The Tea Association of Malawi Limited (TAML) organized an event to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day on 30th March 2021.
The UN's theme for 2021 is Women in leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a Covid-19 World, TAML decided to commemorate the day by taking action towards combating the spread of Covid-19 in the communities where its members including EPM operate. They donated hygiene kits and sanitary materials to the community through the estates women welfare committees, raising awareness against gender bias, inequality and challenging women in the tea industry to take a leading role in promoting and protecting the rights of women and men in their workplaces.
The function took place at a location within the catchment area of EPM where the Minister of Gender was the guest of honor. EPM was represented by executive management and chairladies of the Women Welfare Committees.
