During July Camellia and 4 subsidiaries attended the Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) 4-day online course. The course was initially planned as a face-to-face course but as events unfolded and the adverse effect of lockdown was implemented, the acknowledgment of such training became ever more paramount.

Never before has it been as important to equip employees with the knowledge and resources available to them in the workplace. With mental health a topic of such relevance, we believe in understanding the impact of wellbeing this was having.

In total, 16 people from Camellia and 4 UK subsidiaries attended the online course.

Tim Tracey and James Startin, both from Abbey Metal Finishing Company provided some valuable feedback on how they found the course and the key takeaways.

"The Mental Health First Aid England course was highly informative and equipped me with the knowledge, skills and confidence to approach colleagues struggling with their mental health. The tools it gave me are invaluable, and I believe we should all have them in our arsenal – the course has shown me more people need assistance that we realise, particularly during CVOD-19. I encourage everyone to take part int eh course so we, along with the mental health sessions Amfin have implemented, can create supportive and understanding workplace."

“The course provided me with an informative and insightful platform. As a result, I now have a better understanding of mental health and the issues that surround poor mental health. I look forward to putting the skills that I have learnt from the course into practice during our mental health first aid clinics.”
