Leading engineering company AJT Engineering Limited is going from strength to strength, thanks to investment in both state-of-the-art machinery and its highly skilled workforce.

The company was founded in Aberdeen in 1948 and comprises three different divisions, AJT Engineering, British Heat Treatments and British Metal Treatments. It delivers a full range of services to a wide range of sectors, from repairing and manufacturing subsea tools to welding and cold extrusion operations.

The company has recently invested significantly in its machine shop – both in terms of machinery as well as staff training and development – in order to offer a more diverse range of solutions.

AJT’s highly trained and experienced workforce is able to deliver projects efficiently and economically using the latest computer numerical control machinery, which includes a rotary table with a 10 tonne load capacity and an innovative fourth generation, five axis machining centre.

Its welding stations use cutting-edge procedures endorsed by 3rd party certifying authorities and are suitable for use on a wide cross-section of materials used in both on and off-shore products.

AJT also offers a rapid response manufacturing capability for clients both in and outside the oil industry, thanks to a multi-head plate profiling station.

Managing Director Ken Gauld said the flexibility of the workforce had been instrumental in AJT’s continued success.

"We have a solid programme of investment in modern technology which allows us to increase efficiency and drive our cost base down to meet the challenging markets of the future. We have to be ready to respond to the needs of our customers not only in the gas and oil industries but also the diverse range of markets in which we now operate. Our multi-skilled and talented workforce is absolutely key to this.”

British Heat Treatments and British Metal Treatments offer contract heat treatment techniques and a range of electro-chemical deposition services from premises at East Kilbride and Port Glasgow.
