Value Addition

In February 2009 AKD engineering were awarded a contract for the tieback and modification of the top side of an unmanned Southern North Sea platform.  The work comprised the design and fabrication of the deck extension, the design and fabrication of the walkway, support structure and deck anchor plates.  It also included the design for new and modified piping systems, new control and communication upgrades and the installation works offshore.  Special attention was paid to ensure all Health and Safety Executive (“HSE”) issues were accommodated with regards to the installation works and with the fabrication shop operating seven days a week, in managing the demanding schedule. There was no lost time on injuries signifying AKD’s committment to the clients’ stringent HSE and during the design phase significant value was added to the project lifecycle.

Throughout the build process substantial additions were included in the project combined with many major design changes.  AKD rose to the challenge and maintained the original tight schedule demonstrating how its employees are committed and motivated to work together as a strong team in order to achieve a successful project execution for the client.

With the success of this project for AKD were awarded another £1m plus contract in North Africa for piping prefabrication.

AKD is committed to the future by developing with its clients, on time, cost effective well managed projects encompassing all their 55 years of engineering know how.  AKD have the facility to provide support worldwide to meet difficult project management, design and fabrication requirements onshore and offshore with personnel to support any installation.
